News: New Year Sale, last few days - Pop in and help us to clear the shelves for new stock (see note below on the Spring Gift Fair). Come and pick up a bargain.

Original Art:

Actually we never intended to sell art (see later) but giving into public requests we have finally managed to persuade a local artist to paint a few pictures for us - all originals, and we will be adding them to our gallery walls.  It's not often you get the opportunity to own an original signed painting.  And if I recall someone told L S Lowry his paintings were rubbish and offerred 10/- (that's ten shillings, or 50 pence to the younger readers).  Last one sold for over £5 million.  They are on their way so keep an eye out in the art section.

Valentines Day approaches

Dont blame me if you miss it.  It could be a good time to recover lost brownie points, and don't forget ladies it's a leap year so if HE hasn't got round to popping the question you can do it yourself this year.  Who says tradition is dead. And when he's picked himself up from the floor come and see us to start planning the day before he recovers.  And don't forget if all else fails tradition says he still has to buy you a pair of gloves - but we don't sell those.

Mothers Day - March 18th 2012- Forget this day at your peril.  Buy her a bunch of flowers, a display or a basket and ensure you remain in her good books.  We can also arrange delivery of the gift for a small delivery charge.  Ask for details.

Many of you will already know that Make It Special has branched out (get it - florists - branch - oh suit yourself).  We bought the wholesale and retail floristry business of Flowers & Floral (previously Frank Mann) at the end of August last year. This has enabled us to offer a far wider service in the retail area (as well as wholesale), and of course to offer a wider range of wedding options together with our day to day floristry.  We will still offer the same personal service we have always given but there will be a bigger expert team to serve you, and a lot more room than our conservatory (which is now a dining room).  The address for the shop is:

We have had the pleasure of welcoming many new customers to the refurbished shop and also a lot of old ( not in age of course) returning customers .  We are particularly delighted at the many kind comments that have been received about the changes we have made.  It was hard work, and we would apologise to those customers who had to climb over stock, and staff(!), whilst we made those changes but it was worth it.

Spring Fair at the NEC

Roger & Glynis are making the trip North to Birmingham(do we need a passport?) in February to attend the Spring Gift Fair to look at what new ideas are around so we can bring you the latest in flower and floral fashion.

We recently purchased a number of pictures and paintings to brighten up the premises, including the newly completed consultation room, only to discover that within hours we had sold them all.  We are now on our 5th set of pictures and they are selling as fast.  So if there are blank spaces on the walls when you visit you'll know why.  We are trying to source some more at very low prices.  See note at top for exciting news of a local artist painiting originals for us.

From Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries and everything in between we can help you celebrate. How about that chauffeur driven car to a surprise venue, a fantasic meal, a beautifully decorated table and  a presentation bouquet designed just for you, or your loved one, we can make it happen.

A Female vocalist/ wedding singer / Karaoke / disco is available to provide you with musical entertainment for any occasion and with a wide repertoire.  Kirsten (number 3 daughter) is able to perform for a wedding in Church or Civil Ceremony Venue as well as receptions or indeed any event.  She is also an accomplished DJ and her light show is really something.

Have your special event tables decorated with favours, gifts &/or place settings, &/or chair covers and sashes in your own colour themes.  Newly available are tables swags (Yes I wondered what they were as well), and table runners, also colour co-ordinated.

Flowers from a single flower display to a venue festooned in floral magnificence in a marquee, mansion or the romance of a single dining room table, we are  able accommodate it all.

For Sadder Occasions:

Whilst we usually deal with the happier side of life, we are also there for you for those, perhaps, sadder occasions.  We are able to supply standard or bespoke funeral tributes (although for the more unusual we may need a few days where possible), bouquets and sprays.  We can also provide get well bouquets and baskets.  And we are just round the corner from the Torquay Cemetary and Crematorium.

Being positioned just opposite Torbay hospital we are ideally placed to help you with that last minute purchase to visit the sick (although it does take 10 minutes to produce a standard bouquet - all made to order) so if you are visiting and have not had time to pick up a gift let us help you.  Flowers do so cheer up the sick and are less fattening than chocolates, and less acid than grapes.

And when the stork pays a visit

Of course not all hospital visits are to ill or deceased friends and family.  We are just opposite the (well trodden) path from the maternity unit so pick up a bunck of flowers or a display gift before popping in to see the new arrival and the new mum (with 5 children and seven grandchildren I could have saved a fortune - and not a few tellings off for forgetting).
